Eastern Connecticut
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) voted to pass the Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act (H.R. 803). The legislation is a package of eight bills, each of which received bipartisan votes of support in the previous 116th Congress. H.R. 803 provides approximately 1.5 million acres of public land with new permanent and lasting protections, protects more than 1.2 million acres of public land from new oil and gas mining claims, and incorporates more than 1,200 river miles into the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System (NWSRS).
NORWICH, CT—On Saturday, Rep. Joe Courtney (CT-02) joined Connecticut VA Health Care System Director Alfred Montoya at the New London VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) to tour operations and visit with veterans as the clinic administered its first COVID-19 vaccinations. Courtney and Director Montoya also discussed the VA's ongoing efforts to quickly distribute COVID-19 vaccines to eastern Connecticut veterans.
It is the honor of a lifetime to represent eastern Connecticut and advance our top priorities in Washington, and during the 116th Congress my team and I checked off some major milestones for our region that will support jobs and manufacturing, lower the cost of healthcare for seniors and middle class families, expand benefits for Vietnam veterans, and more.
