NORWICH, CT—Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded a new federal grant of $739,569 to the City of Groton that will support several local districts, including the City of Groton, the Center Groton Fire District, the Groton Long Point Fire Association, the Mystic Fire District, the Noank Fire District, the Old Mystic Fire Department, and the Poquonnock Bridge Fire District. The new firefighters’ grant award will also benefit the Mystic River Ambulance Association and the Groton Ambulance Association.
WASHINGTON, DC – This week, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) and the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) (H.R. 7776). The bill would authorize and fund the construction of local projects across the U.S. in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and includes authorizations that would make other projects eligible for future funding. These projects are essential to everything from preserving and growing local economies, to protecting our environment, to maintaining quality of life.
