“The number one thing I hear around the district from both medical professionals and first responders is that they need more funding if we are ever going to stem the rise in drug addiction,” said Courtney. “For years, we have been saying that we need to start treating this crisis like a medical emergency as well as a law enforcement issue. This funding does just that by providing funding for hospitals and clinics on the frontlines.”

“The opioid epidemic is an issue that deserves the attention of every level of our government,” said Congressman Courtney. “This funding will provide direct aid to people living the reality of this crisis. A focused program like We CARE has the potential to make a tremendous impact on lives in our community and I applaud the dedicated efforts of Claire Silva to secure this critical funding.

“This grant funding is great news for the New London Fire Department and the entire community,” said Courtney. “Not only does the New London Fire Department oversee one of the most densely populated municipalities in eastern Connecticut, it also supports the operations of departments in other local communities across our region through mutual-aid. I commend Mayor Michael Passero and retiring Fire Chief Henry Kydd, Jr. for working closely with my office during the grant application process. Their efforts were critical in helping to secure this award.”

“This clarification of the tax revenue procedure announced last year will have a major impact for homeowners whose repair costs exceed their annual income,” said Courtney and Larson. “We are grateful to have the support of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and their Executive Director, Bonnie Stewart, in this critical matter for homeowners in northcentral and northeastern Connecticut."
