WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Joe Courtney today praised the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee's "mark" of the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The mark, which was released today and will be voted on tomorrow, includes measures secured by Rep. Courtney aimed at ensuring a stable production rate for the Virginia Class submarine program.

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Representative Joe Courtney (D-CT) today announced that the town of Pomfret has received a USDA Earth Day 2012 Project grant.

Pomfret has been approved for a $4,425,000 loan and, additionally, has been awarded a grant of $1,475,000. These funds will be used towards a sewer system extension project that will connect existing infrastructure to the nearby town of Killingly. This project will extend reliable wastewater service to several local schools and businesses.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Joe Courtney today applauded the completion and official opening of Pier 31 at SUBASE New London. The new $36-million pier is almost twice the width of the pier it is replacing, and can comfortably berth a Virginia Class submarine on either side – something the old pier could not do. Courtney helped cut the ribbon on the new pier today, along with Governor Malloy, Lieutenant Governor Wyman and other dignitaries.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Joe Courtney on WEDNESDAY, April 11, at 11:30 a.m. will join with local officials and representatives from the Army Corps of Engineers to announce new dredging work at Westbrook Harbor. At the press conference, the Army Corps of Engineers will announce that Patchogue River Dredging in Westbrook will receive $500,000 in reprogrammed funds, which, along with matched funds from the State of Connecticut, will complete the dredging project after years of work.
