[HARTFORD, CT] – Today, U.S. Representatives Joe Courtney (CT-02), John Larson (CT-01), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Jim Himes (CT-04) and Jahana Hayes (CT-05) and U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) announced $2.37 million in Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program grants. The funds are awarded through the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy for youth substance use prevention efforts in communities across the country.

NORWICH, CT – Today, Rep. Joe Courtney (CT-02) applauded the Biden-Harris administration for successfully lowering prices by up to nearly 80% for some of the most expensive, popular drugs taken by people on Medicare. Previously, Medicare was banned from common sense negotiations, but the ban was overturned in the Inflation Reduction Act, which Courtney voted to pass on August 12, 2022 and was signed into law two years ago tomorrow.

The hiring spree comes as Congress and Navy are in a “full throttle” push to recapitalize our nation’s submarine fleet.

NORWICH, CT – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) made the following statement after the future USS IDAHO launched from General Dynamics Electric Boat’s shipyard into the Thames River on August 6.  Congress authorized funding for the construction of the IDAHO in the FY17 National Defense Authorization Act. Courtney serves as the Ranking Member of the Seapower and Projection Forces subcommittee, which authorizes submarine construction and industrial base support.
