“SUBASE New London has long been a critical asset for the U.S. Navy’s undersea fleet. The Appropriations Committee’s approval today of this major investment into Pier 32 is further confirmation that Congress, as well as the Navy, expects our submarine base to remain a valuable hub of activity for generations to come,” said Congressman Courtney.

“After meeting with NRCS in Washington to outline the challenges we’re facing in the Pachaug Forest, it was beneficial to meet with Connecticut-based NRCS staff and their partners in academia to survey the damage up close” said Congressman Courtney.

“Southeastern Connecticut has long been a center of our region’s maritime economy, and today’s announcement represents a commitment to realize the potential of the New London State Pier – and the jobs and growth that will go along with it,” said Congressman Courtney.

“I am glad to learn that the Trump Administration has finally joined a broad and bipartisan range of opponents against the Trump Administration’s own plan to retire an aircraft carrier that is only about half-way through its planned service life."

“Once again, CBO has debunked the myth that private sector submarine maintenance availabilities cost significantly more than those conducted in the public shipyards,” Chairman Courtney said.

“Today’s announcement from Governor Lamont makes it official: Griswold will not be the site of a new State Police gun range,” said Congressman Courtney. “The people of Griswold, from local citizens to municipal leaders, have resisted this move at every opportunity over the last three years."
