The combined Seapower and Projections Forces subcommittee and Readiness subcommittee meet today to hear from the United States Transportation Command and the Maritime Administration on the state of the military's ability to move our forces in peacetime and times of potential conflict.

“The Connecticut delegation has stood united in support of action to address gun violence,” said Congressman Courtney. “When Congress refused to do its job – refused to even hold a single hearing on gun violence throughout the duration of previous Republican-controlled Congresses despite the cascade of mass shootings that seem to follow one after the other – the Connecticut delegation remained steadfast in demanding a legislative response to gun violence."

WASHINGTON Today, U.S. Congressmen Jim Langevin (D-RI), Joe Courtney (D-CT), and David Cicilline (D-RI) announced their legislation to protect several local waterways passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 363-62 as part of a broader bipartisan public lands package.

“I am very pleased that the Education and Labor Committee today reported out a school infrastructure bill which includes a section I authored to help local municipalities with the cost of repairing or reconstructing school buildings that have been impacted by crumbling foundations due to the presence of pyrrhotite,” said Congressman Courtney.

“As I’ve stated since the President first issued his misguided declaration, I’m strongly opposed to misusing emergency powers to circumvent the will of a bipartisan majority in Congress and using military construction funds to pay for a border wall,” said Congressman Courtney.

“I am strongly opposed to the President’s misguided and unlawful plan to misuse emergency powers to pilfer military construction funds to pay for a border wall,” said Congressman Courtney. “It’s a misuse of executive authority, and a dangerous precedent to set. Even the Ranking Republican of the House Armed Services Committee and other senior Armed Services Republicans have said they oppose the President using precious military construction funds this way.
