NORWICH, CT – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) announced that Gales Ferry Fire Chief Anthony "Tony" Saccone will be his guest of honor for President Joe Biden's virtual State of the Union address on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Chief Saccone has served the Ledyard community as Chief of the Gales Ferry Firehouse for more than ten years, and was instrumental in the recent victory for fire police officers and their families across the U.S.
State and federal politicians all agreed on the importance of the Long Island Sound on Wednesday, praising $106 million in federal funding to restore and preserve the Sound.

NORWICH, CT – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) shared the announcement that the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) is set to receive $200,000 in federal pandemic relief assistance to support shellfish farmers, fisheries, and others in the Connecticut seafood industry. The new federal relief funding was awarded to CT DEEP through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and was authorized by H.R. 133, a COVID-19 relief bill that Courtney helped pass in December 2020.
