WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-2) announced that Medicare beneficiaries will not see any increase in premium costs for Medicare Part B in 2014. Despite reports that premiums would rise significantly for Part B recipients in 2014, the Center for Medicare Services (CMS) confirmed that 2013 rates will remain in effect.

WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-2) announced more than $5 million in federal grants through the U.S. Department of the Interior for eastern Connecticut.

WASHINGTON—As the federal government resumes its regular operations after the House Republican-led government shutdown, Congressman Joe Courtney released the following statement on the Department of Veterans Affairs’ return to normal service:

Washington– Congressman Courtney tonight voted in favor of a long-delayed, bipartisan measure to end the 16 day Federal Government shutdown and raise the nation’s debt ceiling through early February.

Congressman Courtney today applauded Navy Secretary Ray Mabus’s announcement that the Navy will place women on two Groton-based Virginia Class Attacks Submarines, the USS Virginia and the USS Minnesota.

“Today’s announcement reflects the outstanding performance of our female submariners in submarine training programs and in service on our SSBNs and SSGNs. Further integrating women into our submarine force is a welcome step forward and will ensure that the Navy can continue to maximize the skill and talent of all those seeking to serve our country.”
