The Seapower and Projection Forces subcommittee meets this morning to hear testimony on the Department of the Air Force’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 budget request.

"I welcome President Biden's nomination of Carlos Del Toro as the next Secretary of the Navy,” said Congressman Courtney.

“America is going to lean heavily on the work of our U.S. Navy as our national security priorities pivot towards the Indo-Pacific and the Arctic, which will require a higher rate of submarine deployments at a time where public shipyards are facing huge backlogs, requiring private yards to fill the breach,” said Chairman Courtney.

“President Biden’s budget submission is the start of an intense process to achieve the right balance of our national defense. It is noteworthy at the outset that the nearly $12 billion request for submarine construction and development is the largest investment in our undersea fleet since the 1980s,” said Courtney.
