NORWICH, CT – This month, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) and Congressman Glenn Thompson (PA-15) introduced the bipartisan Funding Refrigeration Equipment for Student Health (FRESH) Act. The bill would create a USDA competitive grant program for K-12 schools to acquire and install milk dispensers or cold storage equipment for use in school cafeterias, making it more financially feasible for schools to provide whole milk to students.

[HARTFORD, CT] – Today, U.S. Representatives Joe Courtney (CT-02) and Jahana Hayes (CT-05) and U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) announced $2.8 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to lower costs, expand access to clean energy, and strengthen Connecticut’s small farms and rural small businesses.
“Eastern Connecticut is the most rural part of our state, with a healthy, sizable cross section of producers and farmers. Unfortunately, extreme weather events and the rising costs of goods have put a major strain on producers’ businesses.”
