WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Joe Courtney today released the following statement after he and bipartisan majority in the House voted, 241-180, to pass a $50.4-billion relief package for Hurricane Sandy victims. The vote comes 11 days after the House approved $9.7 billion in funding to replenish the National Flood Insurance Program.

WASHINGTON, DC – After Electric Boat's 2013 legislative breakfast this morning, Congressman Joe Courtney applauded the steadily-improving employment situation at the Groton-based submarine manufacturer. According to information outlined by Electric Boat (EB) President Kevin Poitras, the company exceeded hiring targets in 2012, adding 1,260 employees during the year—700 more than anticipated—in order to support Virginia Class production, development work on the Ohio Replacement, and submarine maintenance.

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Joe Courtney today released the following statement after he and the House voted to pass $9.7 billion of relief for Hurricane Sandy victims. The funding replenishes the National Flood Insurance Program, which is expected to run out of money to pay claims related to the storm next week. A second vote on an additional $51 billion in Sandy relief is currently slated for January 15.
