Getting Results through Bipartisan Work
“Bipartisanship has always been my approach. In a closely divided Congress, I am reaching across the aisle and working with my Republican colleagues whenever and wherever possible to continue delivering on what matters most to eastern Connecticut.”
- Rep. Joe Courtney, Connecticut’s 2nd District
Preventing Gridlock
Time and time again when the House has faced funding cliffs and pressing deadlines during the 118thCongress, I’ve stepped across the aisle to work with Republicans to avert a catastrophic default and government shutdowns, and strengthen our national security.
Proven Success
In 2023, the Lugar Center ranked me the most bipartisan Member from Connecticut. Im continuing that record this year.
In 2024 – one of the least productive Congresses in history – one of my bipartisan bills has been signed into law and three of my bipartisan bills passed the House in just a 90 day period. These bills would help protect coast guard personnel from sexual assault, preserve the Long Island Sound, and protect kids from exploitation.
The Day Editorial Board: Courtney Shows Bipartisanship is Alive and Well
In July, the Day Editorial Board penned a piece on Rep. Joe Courtney’s bipartisan record and his commitment to working across the aisle to get things done for eastern Connecticut.
The Board wrote: “…it’s nice to know that in an era of hyper polarization, with constant stalemates between parties and in a country with a rapidly vanishing center, there are men and women in Congress like Joe Courtney, focusing on the task at hand.”
