“The Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers program has been a successful tool for river and watershed preservation for decades. From the first piece of legislation I got signed into law that designated the Eightmile River to the Wood-Pawcatuck designation that I helped champion last month, Wild and Scenic Rivers have always been a top priority for me and for eastern Connecticut,” Courtney said.

“John Casey’s retirement caps a remarkable career in shipbuilding and producing the most capable submarines in the world,” Courtney said.

“Equal work deserves equal pay – that’s no longer up for debate,” said Congressman Courtney. “Research shows that in Connecticut, women make only 79 cents for every one dollar made by their male counterparts for the same work. That is completely unacceptable, both morally and economically, and today’s vote acknowledges the compounding and generational impact that pay disparities have on the lifetime earning potential of women, and the negative effect this has on families’ financial stability.

“The country needs full and complete transparency on alleged interference in our elections, and I once again call for the report to be made public in its entirety. Just last week, the House of Representatives voted in overwhelming bipartisan fashion to pass a resolution by a vote of 420-0 that expressed this same sentiment – that the report should be made available to Congress and to the public once completed. The report is now completed. The Department of Justice needs to fulfill its duty to the American people and make public the findings of the Mueller Investigation.”
