Keeping the Promise to Our Veterans

“I have the honor of representing over 46,000 veterans in Congress, the largest veteran community of any Congressional District in Connecticut. Those in my district and the millions across the nation who wore our country’s uniform made countless sacrifices to keep us safe. I’m committed to working with my colleagues to repay our veteran communities by connecting them with critical resources that ensure their health and well-being.”

-Rep. Joe Courtney, Connecticut’s 2nd District

Cosponsoring the PACT Act:

Rep. Courtney championed the Honoring Our PACT Act to dramatically improve and expand veterans’ access to healthcare in eastern Connecticut and across the nation.

The PACT Act has supplied the VA with the largest rollout of veterans’ health care benefits in history, helping more than 1 million veterans receive critical health care treatment. In eastern Connecticut, Rep. Courtney helped 2,000 veterans enroll in the PACT Act, providing generations of Veterans – and their survivors – with the care they deserve.

Expanding Access to Mental Health Care

Veteran suicide is one of the most devastating crises our nation faces. Rep. Courtney understands that the health of our veterans is of utmost importance, and that’s why he supports comprehensive mental health services.

Thanks to the COMPACT Act, a bill that Rep. Courtney cosponsored, 50,000 veterans now receive no-cost emergency mental health care. This bill has also expanded awareness of and access to the lifesaving Veterans Crisis Line.
