Rep. Courtney Statement on Trump’s Retaliatory Ban of Foreign Students at Harvard

NORWICH, CT – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02), a senior Member of the Education and Workforce Committee, issued the following statement.

"The Trump administration’s effort to block Harvard from enrolling foreign students is a blatant act of retaliation, and it lacks any legitimate educational or national security justification. In fact, ejecting international students detracts from enriching the learning experience for our guests and American students, and damages our relationships with allies – such as the nation of Australia. I fully support Harvard’s lawsuit and am in consultation with my colleagues in Congress about how best we can intervene in the litigation to defend these hard-working students and uphold the independence and integrity of our higher education institutions.”
