Rep. Courtney Statement on the Passing of Edith Prague
WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) released the following statement regarding the passing of Edith Prague, who served as a state senator from 1994 to 2012, and as Connecticut's first Commissioner of the Department on Aging from 2013 until her retirement in 2014.
"Edith Prague was more than just passionate about her work for seniors—from lowering drug costs, to expanding access to long-term care and home-based care, to her confirmation to serve as the first ever head of the CT Department of Aging, she was a leader and a legend," said Rep. Courtney. "I met Edith in our days working together in the State Legislature, and we stayed close ever since. Her example and guidance on how to conduct yourself as a public official has been invaluable, and I'll always be grateful to call her my colleague and my friend—she was truly one of a kind, a wonderful person we just won't see replicated. My heart goes out to her family, loved ones, and friends today."
