Rep. Courtney District Director Ayanti Grant Recognized as Congressional Staffer of the Year
NORWICH, CT – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) joined in celebrating Ayanti Grant, who was presented with an award from the Federal Executive Association of Connecticut (FEACT) this afternoon recognizing her as the Connecticut Congressional Staffer of the Year during the 2019 FEACT Excellence in Government Awards Banquet. Ms. Grant was nominated for the award by her colleagues in Connecticut and in Washington, DC. Following the award ceremony, Congressman Courtney made the following statement:
"Both my office and the people of eastern Connecticut are lucky to have Ayanti Grant working on our behalf. There's no shortage of opportunities for someone with Ayanti's knowledge and talent, but for years she's given her time and energy to serving the people of eastern Connecticut. She has a track record of success, is well-known and well-respected throughout our eastern Connecticut community, and is a tremendous role model. There is no one more deserving of this award than Ayanti Grant."
The FEACT Excellence in Government Awards Banquet is an annual event that honors the best and brightest in local federal service. Outstanding federal employees receive awards in 17 distinguished categories, and nominees do not know the winner until the day of the awards luncheon.
Ms. Grant has served residents of Connecticut's Second Congressional District since joining Congressman Courtney's office in March of 2007. She began her tenure in the Congressman's office as a constituent services representative specializing in immigration, international issues and passport services, and in 2014 was promoted to the position of District Director and given the responsibility to supervise the Congressman's eight district staff members, as well as the operations of both of Congressman's Courtney's district offices in Norwich and Enfield. Prior to joining Rep. Courtney's office, Ms. Grant served as clerk for Judge Cynthia Swenton at the Norwich District Court specializing in family law. She received her law degree in 2005 from Southern New England School of Law, and her undergraduate degree from Hofstra University in 2001.
