Ranking Member Courtney Statement on Tragic MV-22B Crash in Australia
NORWICH, CT – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) issued the following statement after the tragic MV-22B crash in northern Australian.
“My deepest sorrows go out to the families of the three Marines who lost their lives and the five in serious condition who were doing important work in the Northern Territories of Australia. They were engaged in critical work with our allies to uphold a free and open Info-Pacific. The Australian Government’s swift response to provide medical assistance is greatly appreciated by all Americans. My colleagues and I on the House Armed Services Committee are in close contact with Marine Corps leadership. As Ranking Member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, I will be closely monitoring the cause of this mishap as the MV-22 falls under the subcommittee’s jurisdiction. Like so many others, I hope for a full and rapid recovery for those injured in this tragic crash.”
