Courtney Statement on Passing of U.S. Navy Captain Frank “Mick” O’Beirne, Jr.

VERNON, CT – Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) released the following statement following the passing of Captain Frank "Mick" O'Beirne, Jr., a native of Mystic, U.S. Navy veteran, and first Commanding Officer of SUBASE Kings Bay:

"The state of Connecticut lost a great patriot today with the passing of Frank ‘Mick' O'Beirne," said Congressman Courtney. "He was a decorated Captain in the U.S. Navy and tireless volunteer for Team Connecticut in 1995 and 2005 in the successful efforts to block Navy BRAC closings at Naval Submarine Base New London. His legacy to the region will live on for generations."
