Courtney Statement on Passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka
NORWICH, CT—Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) released the following statement today regarding the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka:
"Richard Trumka was a great person, a lifelong advocate for working people, and a friend," said Congressman Courtney. "His loss is profound for the labor movement, but his advocacy for working men and women through times of national hardship will be a lasting legacy. During his many visits to Connecticut, we saw his true passion and understanding of the needs of working Americans, for their right to a good job with good wages, for safe working conditions, and for shared prosperity. I consider myself fortunate to have worked alongside Richard Trumka in pursuit of those goals, and will continue the fight to strengthen the labor movement he served so fiercely."
