Courtney Statement on Electric Boat’s Acquisition of Former Sears Store at Waterford’s Crystal Mall

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02), Ranking Member of the House Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, released the following statement on Electric Boat’s new acquisition of the former Sears store at Waterford’s Crystal Mall, which the shipbuilder announced today.

“Electric Boat's purchase of the Sears retail space in Waterford completes the transformation of the Crystal Mall into a center of excellence for undersea vehicle technology,” Courtney said. “The spacious site will accommodate the urgent push underway to expand the capacity of our nation’s submarine industrial base. The skill set of the work will generate high-paying, high-value jobs that ensure Waterford’s economy will thrive from this ingenious reuse of this prime parcel of realty.”
