Courtney statement after House GOP ends obstruction of payroll tax cut to 160 million Americans

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Joe Courtney today released the following statement after House Republican leaders agreed to extend the payroll tax cut, ending their objection to relief for 160 million American families:

"The House Republicans' complete about-face ends the latest self-imposed and completely avoidable Washington crisis. America's middle class rightly will continue to receive the tax relief it needs as we continue our economic recovery. Now we must refocus our attention on extending the tax cut for the rest of 2012 and protecting Medicare and TRICARE by preventing steep cuts in physician reimbursement rates."
