Courtney on Otis Library in Norwich Being Honored With National Award

April 19, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. —Today, Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-02) made the following statement after Otis Public Library in Norwich was awarded the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service by the Institute of Museum and Library Services:

“As the only library in New England honored with this distinction, I am pleased that the Institute of Museum and Library Services has recognized Otis Library’s tremendous outreach and programming as the best in the country,” said Courtney. “Over the years, Otis Library has partnered with many civic groups to engage citizens and encourage intellectual discourse. The implementation of an outdoor classical music broadcast, evening with an Author series and many programs for children, adults and seniors demonstrate the Library’s commitment to innovation. It was my honor to nominate Otis Library, Director Robert Farwell and his team for the nation’s highest honor and congratulate them for their longstanding community impact.”
