Courtney invites eastern Connecticut student artists to participate in Congressional Art Competition
WASHINGTON, DC –Congressman Joe Courtney today encouraged eastern Connecticut’s aspiring young artists to participate in the 2014 Congressional Art Competition. The competition is open to high school students only, grades 9 through 12, and the winner will be selected at the District Art Show and Competition on Thursday, May 1st. The winner of that competition will have his or her work featured in the United States Capitol along with art from all 435 Congressional Districts.
“Over the past seven years of this competition, hundreds of young artists from eastern Connecticut have participated,” said Congressman Courtney. “Arts are an important part of a well-rounded education, and I encourage students to submit their art for this year’s contest.”
Students must drop off their original work at Congressman Courtney’s Norwich District Office no later than Friday, April 25th. The office is located at:

Students and teachers interested in having their class participate in this year’s competition must contact Congressman Courtney’s office before participating.
