“The state of Connecticut is bursting with Husky pride this morning, as the UConn men and the UConn women’s basketball teams did what I think was almost unimaginable—they both won a national championship.” Courtney said. “We are so proud of you. Go Huskies!”

Courtney, a proud graduate of UConn Law School, congratulated Coaches Geno Auriemma and Kevin Ollie for leading their teams to UConn's second dual-championship year. UConn remains the only school to have achieved this accomplishment, and the men's and women's programs are a combined 13-0 in national title games. It is the fourth national title for the men and the ninth championship win for the women.

Thanks to the unparalleled success of both UConn teams, Congressman Courtney has won a series of friendly wagers with other Members of Congress. After the UConn men’s victory against Kentucky, Rep. Andy Barr (KY-6) will make good on his wager with an assortment of signature bourbons, candies, and treats. Courtney won similar friendly wager with Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-2) after the UConn women’s victory against Notre Dame last night. Rep. Walorski will provide Congressman Courtney with treats from South Bend Chocolate Company® from South Bend, Wakarusa Dime Store® jelly beans, and Amish jam.
