Courtney applauds report critical of New England Fisheries management
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Joe Courtney today released the following statement after NOAA released a report critical of the management of the New England Fisheries:
“The release of today’s report reaffirms the concerns that Connecticut fishermen and I share regarding the management of the New England Fisheries. Our fishermen face enough challenges without also dealing with federal bureaucrats exceeding their authority. Today’s report should serve as a wake-up call to NOAA officials who have been unresponsive to the concerns of both fishermen and Members of Congress.”
Congressman Courtney has sent letters to NOAA and the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the NOAA policies, and has separately met with Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco to express those concerns.
