The Day: National Defense Group Honors Courtney With Leadership Award

December 27, 2015

The Association of Defense Communities recently honored U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, with a Congressional Leadership Award for his support of the military in Connecticut and his efforts to secure federal funding in support of the Navy's submarine fleet.

Bob Ross, executive director of the state's Office of Military Affairs and a member of ADC's board of directors, nominated Courtney for the award "for his sustained efforts on behalf of the shipbuilding industry in eastern Connecticut."

ADC represents over 200 military communities across the U.S. It advocates on a wide range of issues affecting military installations and families, including base closures and realignments, military privatization, defense real-estate, mission growth and sustainment, and military families and veteran support.
